Architect In Birmingham Houzz 2023

Welcome to Studio C Architecture & Interiors.

We are a boutique design firm dedicated to the unique and upscale experience of our clients. Since 2007, we have provided Birmingham, and surrounding areas, with a one of a kind service that has won us the honor of becoming Birmingham, Alabamas’ Highest and Most Reviewed Architectural firm.

Studio C Architecture & Interiors works to deliver breathtaking masterpieces. Our founder and principal architect, Cherri Pitts, has done the hard work that has allowed her to become a trusted partner in the Alabama design industry for the exploratory nature of her designs. Many times, just starting with a drawing on a napkin, Cherri uses her talent and creativity to astound clients by taking their original ideas and transforming them into something that far exceeds their expectations.

Check out our Gallery Page to see some of our work.

Cherri’s work has won her the honor of being named The Best of Houzz for 6 years running. This, again, is why clients all over the state reach out to Studio C Architecture for their design needs.

Be sure to see our Publications Page! Our firm has been featured in numerous publications around the area. Well known magazines have featured our beautifully creative projects for many years.

One of the characteristics that sets our award winning firm apart from other firms is the Proven Process we use with each client. This unique process was fashioned through doing hundreds of high quality projects that has allowed us to create a Best Practice Process that we use to ensure a consistent, high quality experience for each of our clients. Beginning with our Conceptual Design Phase, where we discuss your “Wish List” and set up target budgets and timelines to the Design Development Phase where we dive into the specifics of your projects character and features, our attention to detail along with our creative expertise will surely set you at ease and help you feel confident in the process. But that’s not all. We continue to work with your builder to ensure that what was designed on paper becomes a reality without any surprises.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if I need an Architect for my project?

If you are looking for a custom approach, an individualized project focused on design and representing the way you live in the space around you, you may be a good candidate for using an Architect! Architects are also helpful in solving problems with existing spaces and showing you multiple solutions and options. They are also great at helping you navigate getting a project developed and drawn so that it becomes a set of instructions and drawings as a blueprint for Contractors to build your project. Great Architects see the craft as a marriage of Art and Engineering.

What type of Architecture do you do?

All types! We specialize in custom residential (new homes, renovations and additions). We love helping folks take their initial ideas and develop them into something special, regardless of the project type!

How much are your fees?

Well that depends. We never like to answer that question without fully understanding the scope of the project and what it needs. We like to tailor all of our discussions around what works best for you for each project to determine whether it’s a fit with what we do and if we think we are the right firm to help your dream turn into a reality. If the answer is “yes” for both of us, we figure out the best way to move forward and give a detailed proposal that outlines all of our services and what you can expect in terms of cost. This also breaks down the fee schedule which requires a retainer to get started but is broken into parts based on what we deliver to you in the phases of design and development.

What is your style of Architecture?

That’s a hard one to answer. We hope our Architecture is timeless. That it’s also warm, cozy and livable. Design doesn’t have to be stuffy or cold. We love clean lines and beautiful spaces and that comes in all forms of Architecture. Check out some of our images from a few of our featured projects and hopefully that will give you a better sense of who we are.

What should I expect from the process?

We start an introduction call so you can get to know us. We ask some questions of you so that we can get a better understanding of what your project entails. We may ask for inspiration images, what your timeline is, what your vision and budget are so we can determine if we are the right fit for what you need (and vice versa!). Once the initial call is made, if it feels like the right fit for both of us, we follow that meeting up with a proposal so you have a document that spells out what you can expect. From there, we get to designing and drawing. You always get to approve and make sure we are going in the right direction before the design is fully locked in. We want you to be a part of the process. That always requires a series of touch bases and milestones that are written out in the proposal to get us from design to actual construction documents.

What makes an Architect different from Home Designers?

An Architect is an educated, licensed and registered professional with liability, a professional code of ethics and certain guidelines in which they must operate. Continuing education is required annually to maintain the Architecture license. Many Architects (us included) are also members of the American Institute of Architects, which require Architects to live up to a certain standard of education and professionalism. Home designers usually cannot or do not insure your project or incur liability. They cannot stamp or seal drawings for construction.

What’s the timeline look like once you hire us?

The timeline varies depending on the scale and complexity of the project. The conceptual design phase is first and could take from a few weeks to a few months. This happens as we work to refine and develop the design together. Once the design is locked in and finalized, working on selecting finishes and issuing construction documents could take a few additional months, usually between 2 and 4 months to complete the process and issue drawings.

Do you do design consultations?

Yes! We love working out designs and helping people move their project in the right direction. Our consultations are an hourly rate with a minimum of one hour.

Why should I hire you?

Because we are passionate, dedicated to the process, and design focused. We are also fun to be around!
